All You Can Volunteer Online—
and offline in your community. For Canada.
GLOCAL offers flexible online micro-volunteering for Canadians, especially young Canadians—helping people build civic knowledge, transferable skills, real civic impact, and national connections. We make it possible to participate in civic life wherever you are, whenever you can, with opportunities to connect and contribute in your own community.

We are building accessible pathways for Canadians, particularly youth, to learn, serve, and belong.

Our Mission
& Goals
More accessible, inclusive, and innovative
GLOCAL is a national non-profit organization committed to making civic participation more accessible, inclusive, and innovative across Canada.

Our Story
GLOCAL makes civic participation flexible, inclusive, and practical—helping Canadians turn intention into real action.
GLOCAL was founded to address a simple but persistent gap: many people want to contribute to their communities, but existing pathways to volunteering and civic participation are often difficult to access, inflexible, or unclear.
Over time, through working with youth, educators, community organizations, and public institutions across Canada, we saw the need for something more practical — a civic participation platform that meets people where they are. A platform that recognizes different capacities, schedules, geographies, and life circumstances.
That insight led to the creation of GLOCAL's volunteer platform on YouCount.ca — a national digital civic space where individuals can take part in civic work in ways that are flexible, meaningful, and trackable. From short micro-tasks to longer project-based initiatives, the platform is designed to make participation easier, more transparent, and more inclusive.
Today, GLOCAL continues to build digital civic infrastructure that lowers barriers, supports learning through doing, and helps Canadians turn intention and passion into action. Learn more about GLOCAL by visiting its official website.

Our Philosophy
We believe civic participation is not the work of a single organization, leader, or sector.
It is an intergenerational, cross-sector, and cross-community effort that depends on infrastructure, tools, coordination, and trust.
GLOCAL does not seek to replace community leadership or existing initiatives. Instead, we serve as:
A Facilitator and Connector
linking people, institutions, and opportunities
A Digital Infrastructure Builder
making collaboration easier to access, manage, and scale
A Civic Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator
supporting collective efforts in research, data, and public information
A Youth Leadership Incubator
creating space for young people to learn, contribute, and grow through real civic work

Our Difference
What Makes GLOCAL Unique
GLOCAL expands what civic participation can look like by combining digital infrastructure, flexible service design, and hands-on support.
New Forms of Civic Service
Beyond traditional community activities, GLOCAL creates and hosts service opportunities in areas such as:
- Research and policy support
- Data collection, analysis, and visualization
- Digital services and content development
- Civic knowledge mobilization and public education
- Platform-enabled collaboration across regions
This approach allows people with diverse skills, interests, and constraints to contribute in meaningful and practical ways.
Flexible, customizable participation
Through our All You Can Volunteer model on YouCount.ca, participants can:
- Participate between short micro-tasks (15-30 minutes) or longer project-based work
- Contribute locally, virtually, or through hybrid formats
- Contribute at their own pace
- Track service hours, outputs, and learning in one shared digital space
This flexibility lowers barriers and makes participation accessible to a wider range of individuals.
High-touch support infrastructure
GLOCAL pairs flexibility with sustained support.
- Up to 15 hours of office hours on weekdays
- 5 hours of virtual office hours on weekends
This level of availability helps participants and partners receive timely guidance, resolve issues quickly, and maintain momentum throughout their work.
